Hemorrhoids treated in the office. No hospital surgery.
Dr. Cranford has treated hemorrhoids, fissures and other rectal conditions at this clinic since 1975, most often with a gentle non-surgical method, the Keesey technique, that he has used about 80,000 times.
Same-day and telemedicine appointments, Mon–Fri and Saturday morning.

A small electrode, a very low current, and the hemorrhoid shrinks.
The treatment conducts a very low voltage, low milliamperage current into the diseased tissue, which makes the hemorrhoid shrink and shrivel. It is done with little or no pain.
- 1
A short exam
You lie on your left side (Sims position). The area is numbed, and the look inside (anoscopy) takes a few seconds.
- 2
Under 15 minutes
Each treatment usually takes less than 15 minutes. The lining above the anorectal line has no pain sensors, so most people feel little or nothing.
- 3
A short course
A typical case of internal hemorrhoids needs 6 to 10 treatments. They can be given on consecutive days, up to 3 or 4 in 24 hours.
The alternative, a hemorrhoidectomy, is one of the most painful recoveries there is. Dr. Cranford rarely sees a case that needs it.

Embarrassed? Everyone is. It passes quickly.
Dr. Cranford calls the exam “usually a source of acute embarrassment for the prospective patient,” and answers it with simple explanation and reassurance.
- You talk first: your history, your symptoms, what you have tried.
- You lie on your left side. A numbing gel is used for the gentle exam.
- The look inside takes a few seconds.
- He steps out while you dress, then you talk over what he found.
Find it by what you feel.
Many patients who come in sure it is hemorrhoids turn out to have something else. Start with the symptom; each page gives you the plain answer first.
